I haven’t been a Wong Fu fan for a long time, but I know I’ve been a fan long enough to know how much of an inspiration to many in the world. To me, they are different from korean people I fangirl over, because they are doing so well what I want to do in future.
I started watching their videos in 2011 but stopped in 2012. Only to come back in 2013 and that was when they really caught my attention because they are doing what I want to do – film.
I just love it so much that they still remain so humble and grounded despite their fame. Three really ordinary (and very nice) guys just doing what they love and inspiring people at the same time. Listening to their story of how they started to how they moved to another place to pursue something that seemed so impossible back then, really inspires me. But what inspires me more is the fact that they choose not to go with the trends of making that one viral video that will gain them lots of subscribers and fame but that they choose to create quality videos of stories that they want to share.
They never fail to amaze me with their videos whether it’s a comedic sketch or a romantic short and never fails to make me smile with a Wong Fu Weekend or even a BTS video or a vlog. I really like reading the director’s notes after watching a dramatic short and seeing how everything falls into place. I just… love Wong Fu. It is very encouraging to see them where they are now, and crazy to think how they started out 10 years ago, making videos just for fun not expecting to be doing what they’re doing now. They have achieved so much and I’m really inspired (how many times have I used this word in this post ugh) by them.
For 10 years (11 this year) they’ve been working so hard to bring their fans videos after videos that we love and now it’s about time to give something back to them. As they embark on a new journey of making their first feature film, as a fan, I want to be a part of this journey too! I’m saving up to donate as much as I can for their kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their movie. I hope that YOU (whoever reading) would help them too. Pleeeease donate to their Indiegogo campaign and help them raise funds! I just want to see them bring WFP to the next level, for them to move forward! I really don’t want to see parts of the movie being compromised just because they can’t reach their goal T_T. Just a dollar would help! You even have perks when you donate, depending on the amount, isn’t that cool!!
